Obsessed

I am a woman obsessed. I can't seem to stop resume-ing. I am so freakily addicted to making sure all of my commas are perfect and every space is exact that I am up 'till all hours of the night with it (not really, just midnight or so, but that's late for a gal who's surrounded with screaming, sticky toddlers all day.) Am I weird, or can anyone else feel my pain here? Heather, doll, I know you're with me, right, Oh spreadsheet queen?!

Yahoo for Bess, first outta the gate. Um, yes, it's a fall job. I'm feeling a little, oh, "nervous" about the 'ole financial sitch-i-ation. Oh well. We'll see.

Eek. I should be updating my resume. I like to hear that there's another spreadsheet queen! They're calling me "Excel queen" around here. But I think it's funny because I'd never used Excel before this summer and now everyone in the information centre asks me Excel questions. But they have a spreadsheet for everything! And what disturbs me a little bit is that they're often referred to as someone's "spread." I find that a little unsavoury. I really don't think people should be nicknaming the term "spreadsheet."

Library Lady, I say you be as obsessive as you need to be. Because I actually sent out a resume once with the wrong phone number (I had just moved) due to lack of proof-reading and being in too much of a rush. Not really a shocker that I never got a call from them...

And Keri, I sympathize. I used to work at a place where everybody talked about "servicing" the clients, and no one understood why when editing I always changed it to "serving".

I'm with Michelle... obsess, obsess, obsess.
I was sending out a pile of resumes once and just making a few minor changes to each cover letter. After I'd sent a few I noticed I'd forgotten to change the line that said "I believe working at Enmax would..." when I was applying to several places that were not Enmax. And, that is why I ended up working at Enmax. It all worked out for the best though, because I was so miserable there, that I quit to go to Library School.

"I believe working at Enmax would... drive me to library school"

I love it when the fire-breathing dragon at West Ed is being "serviced." Awesome.

It's the simple things in life, isn't it. Servicing dragons. Hee hee hee.

A brief digression from today's blog happiness - History of the Book has officially been cancelled. I cannot tell you all how sad this makes me, as it is the one course I wanted to take more than any other at library school.

Now I have to find another course...

WE INTERUPT THIS BROADCAST FOR AN EMERGENCY MESSAGE: THE NEW PEOPLE MAGAZINE REPORTS THAT THEY ARE RE-DOING PRIDE AND PREJUDICE WITH KEIRA KNIGHTLY AS ELIZABETH BENNET. I can't stand that girl!!! She's always angry looking, and Elizabeth Bennet is NOT angry! Far from it. I will boycott this movie and never EVER see it. Join with me.

p.s. we all know that only Colin Firth can be Mr. Darcy.

Oh Lerner... sigh. Those were the days.
Is it wrong of me to feel a small bit of glee at the thought of all those first years reading Learner, writing zillions of reflective papers and doing a 506 assignment involving cutting and pasting? I know we’re all gonna be buddies this year, with buddy bands and everything, but still… shouldn’t they have to suffer too? Just a little bit??

Hey! Totally off topic, but did anyone else notice that the top of this page has an ad for cowboy boots . . . ON SALE!!! Oh boy!

Good morning my dear blogging friends. There are surprises for all of you in your email inboxes today! Except for you, Bess, because I'm not sure the email address I have for you is the right one. Can you email me at sbetz@ualberta.ca just to make sure (whew . . . I sure hope posting my email online doesn't automatically condemn me to years of penis enlargement junk mail).

The bset junk mail subject heading I ever got invited me to "erect a skin tower" in my pants.

Hmmm.

I don't get the "Amanda" joke...

Ohhhh. Where's your apartment Jenny?? And where's your placement?

Why is it that, upon receiving the name of my new buddy, I have a greater urge to googlestalk him rather than send him a friendly email? Does that revoke my right to a buddy?

Hee hee. I told my budies that library school wasn't that scary, excpet for the people eating alligators lurking outside. Hee hee hee.
Yea Jenny's new apartment just in time for buddy parties!

Darlene said that she and Anna and Jeannine talked about it, and they've decided to run it anyway. I don't know if the fact that I was in Darlene's office when she got the word, and I looked all sad and told her that it was the class that actually made me come to library school, and was the one class I promised myself I would take even if I couldn't take anything else, made any sort of difference, but there we go. Also, I told her that Sonya and I had been talking and were totally willing to be the only two people in the class.

Hooray!

And congratulations everybody on the kickass practicum placements and on your new apartment Jenny.

Today is a good day for everyone.

Ewwww. Someone just called me "proactive." I hate corporations.

Keri

Yes, Keri takes a "proactive" approach to blogging at work.

That's right. If I don't do it, who will?

Wow!! Blog happiness all the way around: new apartments, new buddies, old history of the book, proactive Keri, and no comments on scary penis junk mail! Does life get any better?!

I think not.
